Meet our physiotherapists.
What happens at my first physiotherapy visit?
Your physiotherapist starts with your history, then assesses how you move, where it hurts and what may be contributing. You talk through the findings and your goals, receive hands-on treatment if it suits you, and leave with a plan and exercises for home. Initial visits are 45 minutes, or 60 minutes for more complex cases.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts help for a knee or hip concern, and a tank top helps for a shoulder or neck. Bring any imaging or test results, your insurance details and supportive footwear, and complete your online intake forms before you arrive.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your problem, how long you have had it and your goals. A recent sprain may settle sooner than a long-standing pain or recovery after surgery. Your physiotherapist gives you an estimate after your assessment and reviews it as you progress, so the plan changes when you do.
Do I need a referral, and do you direct bill?
No referral is needed. We direct bill ICBC, WorkSafeBC, MSP and extended health plans, so you pay only any remaining balance. Some extended health plans ask for a doctor’s note before they reimburse physiotherapy, so it is worth checking your policy first. Our coordinators are happy to help.
Will treatment hurt, and will I be sore afterwards?
Treatment is adjusted to your comfort, and you can ask your physiotherapist to change the pressure at any point. Some techniques, such as IMS or dry needling, can cause a brief cramp or twitch. You may feel sore for a day or two, and that should ease within a few days.
Can I combine physiotherapy with massage, chiropractic or acupuncture?
Yes. All five disciplines work under one roof from one shared file, so your practitioners can compare notes. Your physiotherapist may add IMS or shockwave within your visit, and can coordinate with your RMT, chiropractor, acupuncturist or kinesiologist so each part of your care supports the others.
Direct billing, so you pay less at the desk.
We bill ICBC, WorkSafeBC, MSP and most extended health plans directly, including Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life and Green Shield. Bring your policy details to your first visit and we handle the rest. How direct billing works
