Common Questions

Chiropractic questions, answered.

What happens at my first chiropractic visit?

Your chiropractor takes your history, then examines your spine and joints, your posture and how you move. Before any treatment, they explain what they found and what your options are. The initial visit is 45 minutes. Treatment may include adjustments, soft tissue work and exercises, and you leave knowing what to do between visits.

Will an adjustment hurt, and what is that popping sound?

An adjustment is a quick, controlled movement of a joint in the spine, and you may hear a popping sound. If you would rather avoid adjustments, your chiropractor can use gentler options such as joint mobilization and soft tissue work. Mild soreness afterwards can happen and should ease within a few days.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what is bothering you and how long you have had it. Your chiropractor explains the plan at the start and reviews it as you improve. Follow-up visits are 30 minutes at $100, with a shorter 15-minute option at $70. Exercises and posture changes are part of the plan so that relief lasts.

What is chiropractic care good for?

People come to us for low back and neck pain, joint stiffness, sciatica and nerve irritation, sports injuries and posture problems from desk work. Your chiropractor will tell you honestly whether chiropractic care is likely to help you, or whether another discipline in our clinic would be a better fit.

Do I need a referral, and do you direct bill?

No referral is needed. We direct bill ICBC and most extended health plans. Coverage for chiropractic care varies by plan, so check what yours includes and whether it asks for a doctor’s note. If you are unsure, call 604 274 2692 and our coordinators will help you work it out before you arrive.

Can chiropractic care be combined with physiotherapy, massage or orthotics?

Yes. Many patients pair chiropractic care with massage for muscle tension or with physiotherapy for strengthening. Our chiropractors also do foot, gait and biomechanical assessments and custom orthotics, which can help when foot mechanics may be adding to knee, hip or back pain.

Direct billing, so you pay less at the desk.

We bill ICBC, WorkSafeBC, MSP and most extended health plans directly, including Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life and Green Shield. Bring your policy details to your first visit and we handle the rest. How direct billing works
