How It Works

From claim number to first visit.

Open your claim with ICBC, then book online or call us at 604 274 2692. Please share your claim number, the date of the accident, your claim specialist’s name and contact information, a signed ICBC billing consent form and a credit card on file so we can set up direct billing before you arrive. ICBC pre-approves a set number of visits in the first 12 weeks after a crash. If it has been more than 12 weeks or you need more visits, we can submit an assessment request to ICBC on your behalf. Vitality is independent from ICBC and offers direct billing as a courtesy, so please stay in touch with your claim specialist, and we recommend seeing your doctor as well.

Common Questions

ICBC treatment questions, answered.

What happens at my first visit after a car accident?

Your practitioner takes a full history of the accident and your symptoms, assesses how you are moving and explains a treatment plan. If you need more than one discipline, we coordinate it. Please bring your claim number, the accident date and your claim specialist’s contact details so direct billing is ready before you arrive.

How many visits will ICBC approve?

ICBC pre-approves a set number of visits in the first 12 weeks after a crash. At the moment that is 25 for physiotherapy, 12 for massage therapy, 25 for chiropractic care, 12 for acupuncture and 12 for active rehabilitation. These counts are set by ICBC and may change, so your practitioner will confirm yours.

What happens after the first 12 weeks?

If you are still improving or still need care, talk to your practitioner as you approach the end of your approval period. They will review your plan and can request an extension, or submit an assessment request to ICBC on your behalf. ICBC makes the final decision on any additional visits.

What if ICBC does not approve a visit?

We will tell you before you are charged, never after. If a visit is not approved, you can choose to pay our standard rate or hold off while we talk through your options with you. Please also stay in touch with your claim specialist, who can explain the decision on your claim.

Do you send reports to ICBC?

Yes. Your practitioner keeps your clinical notes and sends the reports ICBC needs about your treatment and progress. Vitality is independent from ICBC and offers direct billing as a courtesy, so your claim specialist remains your main contact about your claim, including decisions about approvals and next steps.

Can I see several types of practitioner at once?

Yes. Physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture and active rehabilitation can be used together for neck pain, back pain, whiplash, headaches and soft tissue injuries. Our team shares one file, so your plan stays coordinated and you are not repeating your story at every visit.

Direct billing, so you pay less at the desk.

We bill ICBC, WorkSafeBC, MSP and most extended health plans directly, including Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life and Green Shield. Bring your policy details to your first visit and we handle the rest. How direct billing works
